The doctors at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic have been caring for generations of Houston families since 1949 when Mavis P. Kelsey, M.D. opened the doors of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in the Texas Medical Center with a staff of two. A fifth generation Texan, Dr. Kelsey returned home from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He envisioned the creation of a premier medical group, combining the general medical care of personal physicians with the highly focused expertise from specialists in all medical fields.
Today, Kelsey-Seybold’s medical practice spans 18 locations across Houston, on-site at NASA’s Johnson Space Center and even to Moscow where Kelsey-Seybold’s Jose Flores, M.D. provides quality health care to NASA’s astronauts, space agency employees and family members working in Russia. Dr. Flores consults with his Houston-based medical colleagues by satellite uplink.

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic offers a number of services seldom found in other outpatient facilities, including computerized tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), filmless X-ray technology, nuclear medicine, outpatient surgery and two centers of excellence: the Breast Diagnostic Center (BDC) and Cancer Program. The BDC is a national model for fast-tracking breast diagnostics and treating breast abnormalities. The Cancer Program at Kelsey-Seybold’s Main Campus and Spring Medical and Diagnostic Center is the only freestanding (non-hospital-based) program in the nation to be approved with multiple commendations by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
