When to Enroll in Medicare
When you turn 65, you have a seven-month window to sign up for Medicare. This time period starts three months before your birthday month, includes your birthday month, and lasts for three months after your birthday. This is called your Initial Enrollment Period.
The Four Parts of Medicare
- Part A – Hospital Insurance
Covers hospital stays, skilled nursing, and home healthcare - Part B – Medical Insurance
Covers doctors’ costs and home healthcare - Part D – Prescription Drug Coverage
Can be added to Original Medicare or may be included with a Medicare Advantage Plan - Part C – Medicare Advantage
All-in-one plan that combines Parts A, B, and D, plus extras like dental, vision, and hearing
