Transportation to Medical Appointments

KelseyCare Advantage Transportation Benefits

We understand that transportation to and from medical appointments is an important benefit for KelseyCare Advantage members.

Transportation in 2026

  • Routine Transportation for members who need rides to and from medical appointments and are able to walk without assistance. When you contact KelseyCare Advantage to schedule the ride, a Lyft driver will pick you up.
  • Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) is provided for routine transportation to medical appointments and medical facilities within the service area.

Core (HMO) Freedom (HMO-POS) Signature (HMO) 
  • Unlimited rides to approved medical appointment locations.
  • 10 one-way rides to approved medical appointment locations.
  • Unlimited rides to approve medical appointment locations.

  • SSBCI (Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill) Transportation is for KelseyCare Advantage plan members with the following chronic health conditions and visits related to those conditions. Not all members qualify. 
Core (HMO) Freedom (HMO-POS) Signature (HMO) 
  • Not applicable. All Core plans members have unlimited rides. 
  • End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)—Only dialysis appointments are covered
  • Cancer—Only Chemo Infusion and radiation visits for Cancer are covered
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)—Only CHF Clinic visits are covered
  • Severe hematological disorders—Only Coumadin clinic visits (labs) are covered
  • Not applicable. All Signature plan members have unlimited rides.

*Wheelchair accessible vehicles need to be requested 24 hours in advance. This benefit does not cover transportation by stretcher or ambulance. 

 

Transportation in 2025

  • Routine Transportation is for KelseyCare Advantage Freedom and Signature members who need rides to and from medical appointments but who are able to walk without assistance. When you contact KelseyCare Advantage to schedule the ride, a Lyft driver will pick you up.

    Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) coverage is provided for routine transportation to medical appointments and medical facilities within the service area.

Schedule a Ride

To request transportation, simply call 713-KCA-RIDE or 855-931-7433 and have the following information ready:

  • Member’s first and last name
  • Member’s KelseyCare Advantage ID number and date of birth
  • A good contact number
  • Your medical appointment time
  • Your pick-up and drop-off location(s)
  • What type of medical appointment you have
  • If you will have additional passengers
  • If this is a recurring appointment (for services such as dialysis, physical therapy, etc.)
  • If you are hard of hearing or sight impaired

Once your ride is scheduled you will get a text or call confirming that your ride is booked. You’ll receive a second notification when your ride is on the way. Drivers do their best to arrive promptly, however, they may experience occasional delays due to conditions beyond their control.

When your appointment is over and you’re ready to be picked up, call 713-KCA-RIDE or 855-931-7433. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. We will help you schedule your ride home. Members are responsible for collecting belongings from the vehicle. Drivers are not liable for lost items.
