Transition Supply
In some situations, the plan may provide a temporary supply of a medication. This can happen if your drug is not on the Drug List or has restrictions.
A temporary supply gives you time to talk with your doctor about your options and next steps.
Who Can Get a Temporary Supply?
You may qualify if one of these applies to you:
New Plan Members
- You can get up to a 30-day temporary supply during your first 90 days in the plan
- If you live in a long-term care facility, you can get up to a 31-day supply during your first 90 days
Recent Discharge from a Facility
If you were recently discharged from a hospital, long-term care facility, skilled nursing facility, or hospice:
- You can get a 30-day temporary supply
- If you live in a long-term care facility, you can get up to a 31-day supply
Annual Drug List (Formulary) Changes
If changes to the Drug List affect your medication:
- You can get up to a 30-day temporary supply during the first 90 days of the plan year
- If you live in a long-term care facility, you can get up to a 31-day supply during this time
What Happens Next
After you fill a temporary supply, we will send you a letter explaining your options.
