HOUSTON, TX — (October 28, 2014) — KelseyCare Advantage Medical Director Donnie Aga, M.D. has been appointed Medical Director for Healthcare Innovation for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, the health plan’s provider network. The new role will be in addition to his responsibility as medical director for the health plan.

“Dr. Aga has demonstrated an ability to make systematic improvements in the way we deliver medical care at Kelsey-Seybold, ultimately resulting in our achieving a 5-star designation from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services this year for KelseyCare Advantage,” said Spencer Berthelsen, M.D., chairman and managing director of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, in announcing the Kelsey-Seybold Board of Managers appointment.

The Healthcare Innovation initiative that Dr. Aga will spearhead involves improving the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illness through predictive modeling based on a patient’s medical history. This is designed to save time in developing treatment plans that yield early and effective intervention, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

“Dr. Aga will continue to serve as KelseyCare Advantage medical director, but will now also contribute to advances in healthcare delivery for the entire medical group,” added Berthelsen. Aga will also continue serving as an associate chief of Kelsey-Seybold’s Department of Internal Medicine.

“I am honored by this appointment and the confidence the board has placed in me to oversee the convergence of Kelsey-Seybold’s exceptional clinical resources with the acclaimed services KelseyCare Advantage provides Medicare beneficiaries,” said Aga. The appointment is effective immediately.

KelseyCare Advantage was one of only 11 Medicare Advantage plans offering drug coverage to receive the 5-star designation – Medicare’s highest rating – for 2014.
